Obituary of Donald George Laux

Laux -Donald (Don) of Rockville Centre passed away at home on January 29th at the age of 87 with his loved ones by his side when he returned home to God. Beloved by his wife of 63 years, Judi, and his children Donna, Brian, Paul, Alison, David and Matthew as well his grandchildren Erin, Shannon, Ryan, Patrick, Tara, John, Ray, Mike and Callan.

Don was a lifelong educator and coach inspiring three generations of young athletes to be their best selves both on and off the basketball court. A 60-year resident of RVC and an active member of Catholic Charities and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul; first at St. Agnes and then at St. Anthony’s of Oceanside where he remained active in Vincentian programs and the Parish Outreach Food Pantry through 2019. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his name to one of these two organizations that were so close to his heart. Visit SVDPLI.org/conferences or call St. Anthony’s Parish Outreach at 516-764-0048 ext. 2530 for more information.

The family will be holding a memorial visitation at Towers Funeral Home, 2681 Long Beach Rd. Oceanside on Sunday, February 4th from 2pm to 8pm and a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s of Oceanside, 110 Anchor Ave. Oceanside, on Monday, February 5th at 9:45 am (TowersFuneralHomeNY.com).
