Obituary of Joseph M. Cordes

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Michael Cordes, born on July 8, 1964, in Far Rockaway, New York, to his parents, Joseph and Sandra, with his brothers Chris and Jeff. He unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday evening, January 17th, in his home in East Rockaway, New York. He was a beloved husband to Alison and a dedicated father to his two sons, Max and Cooper. Joseph graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Communication and Speech from Brooklyn College in 1997. He further pursued his education and obtained a master's degree in Public Administration from Marist College in 2002. Joseph had a distinguished career in the New York City Police Department (NYPD), where he served as a Deputy Inspector. He joined the force in 1984 and rose through the ranks with his exceptional dedication and leadership. Joseph played a pivotal role in the formation of the NYPD's anti-terrorism task force following the events of September 11, 2001. His expertise and contributions were instrumental in enhancing the city's security measures and preventing future acts of terrorism. After retiring from the police force in 2008, Joseph embarked on several successful business ventures. He served as the Senior Vice President of Investigations at MSA Investigations and Vice President of Sales at EmPower Clean Energy Solutions. However, his true passion lay in real estate, and he established his family-owned real estate enterprise, CoMax Properties, named after his sons Max and Cooper. Joseph's entrepreneurial spirit and keen business acumen led to the growth and success of CoMax Properties. His legacy as a dedicated law enforcement officer, a successful entrepreneur, and a loving family man will continue to inspire all who knew him. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joseph was a devoted mentor and coach to his sons, Max and Cooper, as well as their friends. When not dedicating himself to his family, friends, and others that needed him, boating was probably Joe's biggest passion. The family spent so many special moments on their boat, "Up at Sunrise." Joseph will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. May Joseph's soul rest in peace.
