Obituary of Drue Kerls

Drue Ellen Devlin Kerls passed away on 6/29/2023 at the age of 80. She is survived by her three children
Dan (Rachel), Bill (Tricia) and Meghan (Kevin), as well as her grandchildren Kaitlyn, Maggie, James and
Adeline. She is also survived by her siblings, her twin sister Gail Devlin Henkel, her brother Brian Devlin,
and her cousins who became her sisters Deirdre Maxwell Corte and Ellen Jaffe. She is predeceased by
her husband Jim Kerls and her parents Bill, Helen and Patricia Devlin. She is also survived by numbers of
sisters-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and more friends than can be counted. She welcomed
everyone into her home and her life with a strong loving embrace. While her last few years were tough,
she continued to show her fighting Irish spirit. She LOVED life and loved being with her friends and
family. She had a long and awarded career at Molloy College in the Department of Nursing of which she
was proud. The wake will be held at Towers Funeral Home on Thursday July 6 th from 2-4 PM and 7-9
PM, with a funeral mass at Saint Agnes Cathedral on Friday July 7 th at 10:45am, where she married her
beloved Jim and started the journey of the “downstate Kerls Family”. In lieu of flowers, donations can
be made in her name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (Click here to donate) , which is a
cause near and dear to her heart (for her granddaughter Adeline) ,the Good Shepherd Hospice
(Click here to donate) who supported Drue and her family in her last days,
and the Saint Jude Hospital (Click here to donate). We thank everyone who has touched her life. She was
a force to be reckoned with and we are at peace that she is now at home with the loved ones who have
missed her so much.
