Obituary of Roslyn Perrone

Please share a memory of Roslyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Roslyn Hannah Perrone passed away peacefully on the evening of May 5, 2023 at 89 years old.

Born November 21, 1933 on Featherbed Lane in the Bronx to the orthodox Jewish home of Louis Gordon and Pauline Toback, Roslyn was a spunky child, full of life.

A hard worker, Roslyn never thought the day would come when the family would be sought out for overdue bills. To her surprise, a strapping young Italian man named Joe Perrone showed up at her doorstep to collect, and the rest is history.

Married in 1953, Joe and Roz spent 57 wonderful years of marriage together with their three children, Louis, Linda, and Joseph.

Despite not being able to swim, she loved being waterfront. So much so, that the family settled into their home in Oceanside, Long Island in 1961 - with a big canal in the backyard, and their boat, the “Classy Lady”, docked in the water, it was their slice of the American Dream.

Proud of who she was, Roslyn never had a hair out of place, likely never owned a pair of sweatpants, and always sparkled from the inside out - whether it be from her personality, or the gold around her neck, she was the Classy Lady.

From a gas station attendant to a dental assistant, her most fulfilling role was being a supportive wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother, and a most trusted confidante to her friends - the opposite of a “yenta".

Roslyn certainly knew how to tap dance her way through everyones heart and will always be remembered for her love of pasta Sundays, the tiny iron fist with which she ruled, and a laugh that would light up anyones afternoon.

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends, and is survived by her eldest son and his son (Louis Perrone and Nicholas Perrone), her daughter and her family (Sergio, Linda, and Chelsea Fernandez), and her youngest son (Joseph Perrone).
