Obituary of Zoran Dordevic
Please share a memory of Zoran to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Zoran, who passed away peacefully after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, his treasured sons Dean and Andrew, and his grandchildren, Maxwell, Griffin, Tucker, Dylan and Lauren and his daughters-in-law Kathi and Linda. Also his sister-in-law Brigitte and his niece Anne and nephew Michel and their spouses.
He adored them all and was a great believer in the values of family life above all else. His brother, Momcilo pre-deceased him.
Zoran was born in Kraljevo, Serbia - a place always dear to his heart, to Milan and Ljubica Djordjevic. In Paris in the spring of 1956, he met his wife and subsequently went to England where they were married. They emigrated to Canada on 7/17/57, exactly 7 months from the day they married, on a German ship called (what else?) the "Seven Seas". In February 1958 they came to New York by car from Toronto in what was described as the worst snowstorm ever - huge trucks were stuck in the snow but somehow they made it to Brooklyn. They lived in Sheepshead Bay for 15 years, and for 50 years in Oceanside.
Zoran worked for 39 years at Kingsbrook Medical Center and 18 years at Peninsula General Hospital
(many of those years were simultaneous!) In Belgrade he and his brother were valued members of the
Red Star Ice Hockey team. Zoran played piano, loved jazz, photography, and sailing his beloved sailboat, the Eremite.
Rest in Peace, Zoran
