Obituary of Steven H. Tomaini

Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Steven H. Tomaini announces his passing. Steven will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane, of 49 years, his daughter, Courtney Ryerson, son-in-law, Stephen Ryerson, daughter, Kristina Rieder, son-in-law, Michael Rieder, and his many friends. He leaves behind five grandchildren; Casey, Stephen, Paige, Colin and Luke. He cherished the times he had with his grandchildren, they lovingly called him PePa. He also leaves behind his brother, Buddy Tomaini, sister-in-law, Janice, step brother, Santo Tomaini, sister-in-law, Lisa, and step brother, Chris Tomaini, and their children, his many nieces and nephews, all residing in Florida. Steven led such an interesting life that he is known for the many stories he told. He had "the gift of gab" and would speak to just about anyone who would listen. His wife would always know where to find him, "talking to somebody, anybody…" He loved people of all backgrounds, and always felt he could not only impart knowledge, but also learn a great deal from them. Steven touched and influenced the lives of many, as he taught science and math and coached three varsity sports for 38 years in the public school, and six additional years in the Catholic school. Many letters from his students over the years, and several remaining in contact with him from as far back as his early days of teaching, are a testament to his beloved nature and his dedication to his craft. After retirement, he enjoyed working with students so much that he continued working in another position with the school district until he became ill this past January. He was known to his family and many friends as, "Mr. Handyman", and he was happy to help them with his advice and lend a hand with their issues. He applied his science and math knowledge and his passion for carpentry to being able to design and build just about anything. His home is a beautiful example of his many projects. His passion for music became a hobby, as he categorized and set up a home library of 60,000 songs. He enjoyed immensely sharing his music with a weekly phone call to his brother, Buddy, from Florida; both of them singing at the top of their lungs and reminiscing about the many good times they shared. We will miss you and always carry your memory in our hearts.
