Jerry had an infectious smile that made the world a better place and was a very giving person, lending a helping hand. We will never forget his kindness and love he gave to so many.
My dear cousin, until we meet again, May God Hold You In the Hollow of His Hand!

Uncle Jerry was a kind soul. I'll always remember his guidance and discipline. So many great memories growing up in Farrockaway. Almost chocking on a quarter at the ye olde tavern playing video games and Jerry gave me the Heimlich maneuver, might have been Billy. Growing up Jerry would always talk about the day Buddy and I would beat him in arm wrestling , that day game in the mid 80's , when we finally did beat the old man....rest in peace with your firefighter brothers and my brother ...

So sorry to hear about Gerry, today was my oldests son’s birthday and I’m thinking about the circle of life, we’re born, we live, we die. I’ll cherish Jerry’s memory and think about all the adventures that we had in the local watering holes. One I share frequently is Johnny Seaman( the father) working in the Ye Olde tavern, and Dicky Shilling was starting some mayhem. Me and Gerry get involved and Dicky always called Gerry OZ cause he was small. When I got involved Dicky said you must be 1/2 an OZ.We had so much fun and may God grant you Rest and Peace. Farewell me Hardy( Gerry was fond of Pirate saying after a couple of cold ones.Say hello to Matty Hays when the Pearly Gates open.- Danny

Jerry is our beloved cousin. My sister remembers his plumbing work at 109 Jeanette when he helped our mom by putting an outside spigot so she could use her hose to water her flowers without going to the basement. It meant the world to her. He told her he likes to work alone and that he did. My dad would quote John Milton to me back in 1970s when he was not well and unable to do what he could at the end of his own journey. " They also serve who stand and wait". This quote would reflect the spirit of many of us , but for Jerry it meant so much more. On 9/11 when the 343 FDNY passed on his watch, his soul surely shattered into 343 pieces. Father Mychal Judge, the chaplain led the 343 home to Jesus. Those remaining had the task of finding remains, and living with the reality of this evil. Jerry, who was not only an empathetic man of grace and faith, was surely devastated by the mission at hand. He now has peace in the loving hands of the Lord. In my heart, I can see him saluting his fallen comrades for his job is now done. Surely Father Judge in his usual way, blessed him. Our family and friends greeted him and that genuine smile of his shines in the heavens. If there is a 109 Jeanette in heaven, he stopped by to see his earthly work. For now, we can only follow the example that radiated the life of Jerry, love God, and love each other in all actions, thoughts, and prayers. To Jerry I say on behalf of 109 Jeanette: My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you, my brothers thank you, and I thank you. Eternal rest dearest cousin. Till we meet again, may we all know God's grace and love as we finish the job at hand.

Gerry and I went through all the grades at St Mary’s together. After graduation we met each morning at the Mott Ave subway station to take the trains to our respective high schools, Gerry to Bishop Laughlin and me to Brooklyn Tech. We grew up half a block from each other-he on Greenport Road and me on Beach 19th Street . We loved breaking each other’s chops. He will be greatly missed by all. Condolences to the family.
