Mr. Thorp is one of the finest history teachers to have graced the Oceanside School district.
I was lucky enough to have been his student during his final year at OMS before retirement.
Always a story, always an interesting lesson, always a lesson learned. He cared about history, nature, and his students. Ask anyone who went to OHS from 2010 back, or was on team 4 or was on track / cross country, they will very likely have a fond memory of Mr. Thorp and a great story to tell.
He was by far my favorite teacher, coach, and civil war brigadier general (class reenactment) during my time in Oceanside.
I just wish I could have talked to him one more time.
Always an Oceanside legend.
