Sami was the most wonderful person I have ever known on this earth. She walked into a room, and was already instantly everyone’s best friend. She was kind and patient and loving and gentle and gorgeous and brilliant and hilarious and 1000 more attributes that I won’t list here but will be pinned in my head forever. Sam came into my life when I needed her most, like she did for nearly everyone she came in contact with, she was magical like that. We met at Santaland where I got to know her first as Fruitcake the most caring thoughtful little elf I had ever seen, then as my amazing new friend Sam, then as someone that I will love until the end of time. I have thought for a very long time of what to write about Samantha, I wish there were better words in the English language for what she means to me. She changed my life, though she did have a knack for changing peoples lives for the better. No matter what was ever going on in her life, she was there for me every single day without fail. She has always been my guardian angel. I will never forget one second of my time spent with my most special Christmas friend. Time will never change how much I love you. Jeremey Bearimy Sami.

Q: What was Samantha like as a child?
A: Growing up with Sam made for the most memorable childhood. We became neighbors when she was just 5 years old and quickly became fast friends. Countless hours spent watching scary movies and playing board games. Sneaking to the convenience store on our bikes before we were allowed to go that far. Waiting impatiently for the ice cream man to roll by on hot summer days. Always finding time to spend 4th of July watching fireworks together, or celebrating birthdays and Christmas with each other. That bond braced us for adulthood where we voted together for the first time, watched each other go through college and heartbreak, and of course watching sunsets on Long Beach. I would not be who I am today without her friendship. I will miss you dearly, Samantha.

Q: How would you describe Samantha to someone who had never met them?
A: Sami was such a cool person, never afraid to stand up for what she believed in, and always down to sit on a stoop and chat. She was also incredibly sweet and supportive. She would be the first one to wish me happy holidays, to root for me in my career, and to encourage me in dating. She opened my eyes and taught me so much about accesability as well, that I will advocate for for the rest of my life. Everything she was will continue in the world through the people she knew. I miss you, and I love you.

One of my favorite things Sami used to do for me when I was sad was find sneaky ways of getting snacks for me at work. The bartenders all had crushes on her and would give her things from free snacks to vodka shots!

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Samantha?
A: I am truly blessed to have had this beautiful, gentle, caring and lovable girl be part of our lives. Samantha had a special genuineness and kindness that would shine on anyone she came in contact with. What made her so special was she did this even though she had many health challenges to deal with along the way. Many of her friends had common things to say about her like being a “brite light” in their lives and always there when someone needed a pick me up. Her love for animals and her constant fight for anyone with any type of disability was second to none. Not to mention how smart she was. I would always enjoy talking with her and learning different things. She will be missed by many people but certainly never forgotten. God has certainly taken a great one and he is lucky to have her. Miss you terribly Samantha. ❤️❤️❤️
