I was so saddened when I heard about the passing of Dr. D. He was the first doctor I worked for when I started my career in the medical field 12 years ago. He was caring, kind and patient. I wish I had seen him more over the years. He was truly a great man and I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear Rachel,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. D…. I just found out today……. Dr. D (as I always called him) was a very important part of my dads life and you were too! As a concerned and caring daughter I know sometimes I drove him crazy with all my calls, but in the end he always was there for us no matter what time it was, and I always welcomed his late night calls and late night visits at Grandell. I loved the way he always engaged in conversation with my dad, and he told me on many occasions how he enjoyed listening to the stories my dad shared with him. Thank you so much to both of you for all the time and care you gave to my dad, Robert. Who knows, maybe my dad is complimenting him right now on one of those beautiful ties you always picked out for him to wear. Sending you and your family my deepest sympathies during this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace and his memory be a blessing to all of you.

Wow, just heard about Al's passing from a couple classmates; I was in Al's GWU med class of '84. I knew him moderately well and liked him a great deal. We had a couple of rotations together; notably as second year students when we learned physical diagnosis on the floors of the hospital. His nickname was "hyper-al"; a play on words - of hyperalimentation, aka "hyper-al"; because he was so energetic. Don't know if he knew of or liked the nickname or not; apologies if for some reason he didn't. We talked a lot; I was from the NJ area and remember, quite fondly and quite impressed, when he told me that one of his relatives - grandfather or uncle or some such - was the broadcaster of the NY Yankees in Spanish. I knew right then Al was OK. Although he and I weren't drinking buddies, Al was always one of those guys no matter where you were or what you were doing, he took the time to catch up; he was always conversational and always worth talking to; he was positive and had a good outlook on the whole med school experience; he was just a helluva nice guy and a bright guy and I'm glad he made such an impression on his peers and patients. I'm not surprised. RIP, Al, I thought of you often over the years because of our connection during training and every time I heard the spanish announcers doing the Yankees....

Dr. Alan De Rovira was a very special and unique doctor. He took care of my daughter for few years and even when he was also sick, his patients were always first. He was a great doctor, he had a lot of knowledge, but most importantly he had a golden heart.
You will be in our prayers and in our hearts forever.
May God have Mercy of your soul. Rest in Peace.
Elsa and Andrea Clark.

Dr.D was the most caring and loving doctor that our family has ever known. Without his aggressive treatment when my husband had Covid pneumonia my husband would probably not be alive. We are so grateful to him and to Rachel who were constantly keeping all six of us in their care. My sincere condolences to Rachel and their family. And to all of his patients who will suffer his loss. As always my love for him and for Rachel will always remain in our hearts. May God give strength and peace to his family and bless them always. With love Nancy Melendez,

I can honestly say that there will never be another doctor like Dr. D. This man was a man of immense character, compassion, intelligence, care and devotion not only to his family and friends but to his patients. Both he and Rachel have brought such peace to our family as we cared for our elderly mother these past two years. Fly with the angels Dr. D. - your reward is great in heaven because of the life you lived here on earth. You are a saint among men. With great respect and love, Jennie, Lucy, Anthony & John

We are so sad. Dr. D and Rachel were a team devoted to caring for our parents while at Atria and after. The doctor visited Dad and Mom many times in the hospitals, at all hours. Often, Rachel was waiting for him in the car outside but he never rushed. He always took time to speak with our family and guide us in the best way to help his patients and proceed with treatment. His patients loved and respected him, and so did we. We send love and strength to Rachel.

Selfless, kind, warm hearted and working hard. I had the opportunity to work for Dr.DeRovira for 8 years. He taught me how to do a lot of things especially the efficient way to do an EKG. He definitely had a one of a kind bedside manner, took his time will all patients and I count the multiple rabbit wholes Rachel had to pull him out of. He saved my life twice and I’ll forever be grateful for that. My deepest condolences to Rachel and the family. With Love, Anna Gutiérrez
