Obituary of Louis R Spadanuta

Please share a memory of Louis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
October 24, 1953—December 18, 2021 Son of Andrew Louis and Barbara (Belvek) Spadanuta, born and raised in Oceanside, NY. Louis also lived in Long Beach, Holbrook, and West Shokan, NY and for the last part of his life, in Sharon, PA. Father of Fiamma Mia (with Amy Pliskin) and Nathan (nee Eva, with Danielle Hayduk), and grandfather to Fiamma’s daughters, Amiyah, and Kamillah (posthumously). Older brother of Kathi S. Lismore (Finbarr) and Susan Spadanuta (Dhanya Pater), and uncle to Jason Spadanuta-Castello (Kathryn and son Clark). Cousin and nephew in a large and loving extended family, and member of a wide circle of loyal friends. Throughout his youth, Louis loved sports, playing Little League baseball, pickup basketball, and serving as the starting center on the OHS football team (class of 1971). But his most enduring passion was art, which became his major at Union College (Schenectady, NY, class of 1976). After college, Louis pursued art studies in NYC and Europe, but soon made a career choice to follow his father’s footsteps into the world of construction. During the 1980’s-90’s, he was a founding partner in two contracting businesses (LouiSante and Ohayo Industries). He continued to work as an independent contractor after moving to Sharon, PA in the early 2000’s, and always tried to bridge the gap between working for income and working on his art. In the last few years of his life, Louis faced both health and financial challenges, yet continued to devote his best energies to his artistic vision and hopes. In the eyes of his family and friends, Louis had the fiery soul of an artist, and the gentle heart of a man who wanted the world to be a safer and easier place for us all in which to flourish and follow our passions. He summed up his belief with the motto, “Always Creative, Always Free.” Those of us who knew and love him can now imagine him finding true freedom and complete creativity in the hereafter.
