Mary Doumas, 92, of Valley Stream, NY, passed away on May 13, 2022. Mary was born on April 30, 1930, in NYC to James and Mary Stamos. Mary graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1947 where she studied fashion design. Her first job was at the iconic NYC department store, Henri Bendel. In 1951, Mary was introduced to Odysseus Doumas, recently immigrated from Kastoria, Greece. Mary and Odysseus were blessed with three children, Helen, Efklides, and Mary. Mary will be remembered for many things including devotion to family, amazing memory and prolific storytelling, boundless energy, beautiful hand knit blankets and sweaters for her grand and great-grandchildren, and donating time to knit hats for newborns at a nearby hospital. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Odysseus, her siblings Alex and Betty, and first grandson, AF Major Mark Paul Graziano. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Helen Graziano and Gary, Efklides C. Doumas and Diane, and Mary D. Christon and Gregory, six grandchildren, Nicholas, George, Alex, Michael, Stephanie and Christopher, and eight great-grandchildren Ava, Mark, Aubrey, Landon, Rockwell, Greyson, Emilyn and Anderson. A Trisagion service will be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 18th at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 19th at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 18th from 7-9pm at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Transitions LifeCare, a nonprofit organization whose staff provided Mary and her family with loving, supportive end-of-life care.
