Obituary of Michael Patrick Reidy Jr.

Michael Patrick Reidy, Jr., age 88, of Yonkers, NY, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022. Michael grew up in NYC and loved to share stories about the city where he lived and how it changed over the years. He joined the United States Air Force and served many years as a mechanic. After retiring from the USAF, Michael moved back to New York and started working for the United States Postal Service, where he climbed the ranks, heading the Express Mail division when it first started and eventually retiring as Post Master. Michael loved his family fiercely and was the epitome of the family man. He spent his free time enjoying life with his family, traveling, helping his grandchildren with their homework and playing with his great-grandchildren. He was an avid game show watcher, family chauffer, “Free Chinese Friday” extraordinaire and walked everywhere, with his hands behind his back, of course. Poppop was also the number one jokester and loved to tease those around him. His famous lines include (but are not limited to) “I’ll give you a punch in the nose”, “don’t you have a job?!”, “ugh, no you don’t!” in response to expressions of love, and the most popular of all “now, get out!!”. Michael is survived by his devoted wife Delores; his four beautiful daughters Linda (Charlie) Reidy, Pattie (Peter) Koschei, Michelle (Harry) Torres and Linda (Mike) Suter; his loving grandchildren Jessica (Anthony) Miceli, Robert (Rachel) Suter, Tara (Anthony) Tinelle, Jackie Torres, Allison (Frank) Criscuolo, Ashley Suter, Rebecca (Adam) Scheinberg, and Christopher Torres; his energetic great-grandchildren Bella, Anthony, Joseph, Nicholas, Jillian, Olivia, and Anthony; and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Michael Patrick Reidy, Sr; his brother William Reidy and his sister Pat (Al) Tergersen. A wake service will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday, April 10th at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton on Monday, April 11th at 12:30 pm. The family will be meeting at the funeral home on Monday at 10am to form the procession. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 10th from 4 - 8PM at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY.
