Please share a memory of Luis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Luis Enrique Arroyo Sr., beloved son, father, devoted husband, confidant, grandfather, great grandfather, and most importantly, friend, parted with the Lord on Thursday January 13th, 2022 at the age of 81. Born on January 24th, 1940 in the village of Abra Honda Camuy, Puerto Rico, Luis was one of three siblings. He was the son of Cosme Arroyo and Emilia Millet. With his father passing away when he was just 11 years old, Luis was able to overcome the hardships and responsibilities that came with becoming a man. Being left as an orphan, Luis picked up many jobs in order to fulfill the place of his father, helping his mother raise the rest of the family. Known throughout his life for his extraordinary work ethic, Luis worked in a multitude of areas including a laundry mat, and a construction company in Camuy Puerto Rico. When he ended up making his life changing journey to NYC, he worked for YMCA, and was an apprentice for a private company. After learning and establishing his trade, he was promoted as a high level supervisor for the company. During the 50’s, Luis moved to NYC from Puerto Rico in hopes of a better life. On Christmas Day in 1962, Luis met the long term love of his life, which he knew from the beginning would soon be his wife, Lucy Delgado. After a short period of time in 1964, Lucy soon became Lucy Arroyo, the beloved wife and partner of Luis Arroyo. In 1965, Luis and Lucy were blessed with the opportunity to start a family and gave birth to their first daughter, Violet Arroyo. Soon following Violet, their first son Luis Arroyo Jr. was born in 1971. Not too far after, in 1978, their second son Alexis Arroyo was born. And lastly, in 1983 they gave birth to their last and final daughter, Lauren Arroyo. A little before this time in 1981, Luis gave his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and soon started his missionary journey alongside his wife. Fishing, playing baseball, hunting and swimming were just a few of Luis’ many hobbies. Luis was looked up to as a role model who always fought to the end. Luis was blessed to have 10 grandchildren, 5 boys and 5 girls, and 1 great grandson. His family always looked at him as the backbone of the family because of his kind heart, humble soul, and drive to succeed. He was heavily admired by anyone who crossed his path and truly made an impact everywhere he went. Luis was deeply loved and all of his family’s great memories with him, will never be forgotten but will always be cherished. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19th at Ark Of Salvation, 3161 Royal Ave., Oceanside, NY. Burial will be in EL Nuevo Cemeterio, Camuy, Puerto Rico at a later date. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 19th from 6-9 PM at Ark Of Salvation, Oceansice, NY.
