Obituary of Scott Gerard Gernhardt
Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott Gerard Gernhardt, age 21, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on November 17, 2021. Scott graduated from Long Beach High School in 2018, where he played on the Varsity Soccer team for three years. It was there that he made some of the best friends that became family to all of us—survived by his parents Phyllis (nee Tullo) and Scott Gernhardt and his brother Matthew. Scott is survived by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Frank and Marion Tullo and John and Shirly Gernhardt.
Besides spending time with his family and friends, Scott's happy place was at the gym, beating his personal records and helping others attain their fitness goals. Anyone who knew Scott knew he has always had a love for sports. Whether it be basketball, baseball, or soccer, Scott gave every season his all and made so many friends along the way, and he was always the leader that his teammates could count on. Scott's friends always knew him to be kind, gentle and encouraging to all. His family will remember Scotty as the goofy kid he was, for all his jokes and sometimes, although well-earned, cockiness about softball and how to deadlift.
Scott was a gift to us all, especially to his mother and father, who made both him and his brother Matthew their full-time job. Scott enjoyed his job at The Inn and especially loved kicking out the drunks who were breaking the rules. If there's anything Scott was passionate about it was flashing his flashlight and telling the rowdy patrons, "You're done, buddy." If there's anything everyone in his family would agree on, it's that Scott Gernhardt has been taken from us far too soon. Even in his short life, he has touched many. We ask you to keep his memory alive by living each day to the fullest, spend time outside with your friends, and hug your family tight whenever you can.
