Obituary of Yolanda C. Mirti- Piacentino-Gitman
Please share a memory of Yolanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Yolanda passed peacefully in the morning of September 8th at her home of over 35 years in Oceanside, NY, leaving behind her loving son Jason, his wife Elaine, Step Son Jason and his wife Dawn, grandchildren Gabriella & Nicholas, Connor, Gavin, Nolan, Declan and devoted husband of 40 years, Louis. Yolanda is fourth of six sisters born to Ida Postiglione and Ernest Mirti. Her sisters May, Christine, Jeanne, Ernestine, and Victoria were frequent recipients of Yolanda’s kind words and positive attitude which often acted as the cohesive bond that kept them inseparable.
Yolanda worked diligently at an early age and achieved a respectable corporate position at a major financial institution where she was highly regarded and admired by her peers. Her continued care and exceptional work ethic exemplified the quintessence of professionalism. Whether at work or home, Yolanda put much thought and attention into everything she set out to do.
Yolanda knew how to play too!
She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She had an excellent eye for appreciating nature and art. Adept at many athletic pursuits, Yolanda could hustle any couple off the dance floor, was a beautiful Esther Williams type of swimmer, great bowler, racquetball player, and was beginning to enjoy golf since retiring. She loved music, to sing, to laugh and made many days so memorable for so many people. She especially loved sharing her joys with her beloved grandchildren.
Towards the end of her life, Yolanda enjoyed gardening and was most fulfilled when she was embracing the ways of the Lord and the total joy and fulfillment that comes from giving of yourself, time, talent, and energy to helping others through the Church and various charities. Anyone that was touched by Yolanda, knew of her kindness and selflessness.
We loved her so. We will miss her immeasurably. She left us too soon. She is at peace... finally. Amen
