Edelmiro “Eddie” Hijuelos passed away on Monday, August 23rd, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born and raised with his 10 siblings in Holguin, Cuba. He moved to Havana for work in his early 20s where he met the love of his life, Maria. He met her while swimming at the Santa Maria Del Mar beach. A friendly conversation turned into a 55-year Journey that started with their immigration to the United States in 1967. They settled in Queens, NY and raised 4 children. Eddie worked at Pan American Airlines for 17 years. This led to their love of traveling and many trips with their children around the world. Eddie enjoyed working with his hands, which allowed him to invest and remodel several homes throughout his life. Eddie and Maria spent 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before returning to NY to be close to family. He has now joined his beloved wife Maria in heaven. He is survived by 4 children, Joseph, George, Lourdes, and Victor: son-in-law, Tom, and daughters in law- Olivia and Amy. He was blessed and adored by his grandchildren, Nick, TJ, Ella, Sienna, Jake, and Madelyn. Edelmiro was full of life, loved music, dancing and dominoes. He loved being surrounded by family including his many nieces and nephews.
