Ricardo “Rick” Hassan, age 81, from Oceanside, NY. Beloved husband of Sharon for 51 years. Proud Daddy of Ricardo II “RJ” and Damian (Traci). Loving Grandpa of Antonia, Drake, Griffin and step-granddaughter Emily. Preceded by his father Bonifacio, mother Lillian, and brothers Bonifacio Jr. and Tito. He will be missed by siblings Ralph (Kathy), Sandra, Jose (Vita) and Margarita Fox. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rick graduated from City College of New York and earned his CPCU and ARM designations as part of a lifelong career in insurance. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was active with St. Anthony’s Church in Oceanside as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for decades at the St. Anthony’s Feast. He spent many years volunteering his time to Scouting, as Cubmaster of Pack 204, and later as District Commissioner for Iroquois District; also earning his Wood Badge award as well as the national Silver Beaver award for distinguished service to his council.
Rick was a proud native son of Panama and enjoyed sharing his heritage with his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing, traveling, and most of all, his family.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 21 from 12 to 4 pm at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:45 am on Monday, March 22 at St Anthonys RC Church, 110 Anchor Ave, Oceanside, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton on Monday, March 22 at 1:00 pm.
