Obituary of Albert Repetto

Umberto Repetto (also known as Albert, Alby, Al and Bert) of Oceanside, New York, passed away on January 17, 2021 at the age of 89. Born on August 22, 1931 in Rockville Centre, New York. Attended Riverside School in Rockville Centre. He worked for his father's company S. Repetto & Sons doing cement work and foundations for houses. He enjoyed growing up with five siblings. When he was 8 years old, he learned how to swim at the creek in Rockville Centre. He spent many summer days thereafter. He enlisted into the United States Navy and served in the Korean War on the USS Sigourney (DD-643). He went to Japan, Korea, China, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Hawaii, Jamaica, Cuba and Puerto Rico. While in Honolulu, Hawaii he got a tattoo on his left arm of an anchor, eagle, and an American flag. He swept the decks, painted, and stood watch day and night. When he was on Midway Island in the Pacific, they signed an armistice ending the war. "Gone with the Wind," with Clark Gable was his favorite movie. He drove a gray 1967 Lincoln Continental. When he wasn't driving his Lincoln, he enjoyed driving his black and white 1970 Electra Glide Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He looked forward to every Thursday when he would go to the iHop Restaurant in Oceanside with his friends and meet afterwards at his home to play the card game knock rummy. Sometimes his brother Tony would join them. Son of Italian immigrants (Severino Repetto and Raffaela Albero) and the fourth oldest sibling of three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sisters Margaret DeMase and Lucy Miles. Beloved brother to the late Pasquale, Anthony, and Dominic Repetto. He was never married and had no children but Uncle Alby will forever be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews to whom he asked the question, "Who's the favorite uncle?" The answer is and will always be, "you are!" He will be sadly missed by his childhood friend Mike DeLucia. He will forever be in our hearts. To quote his own words of goodbye, "I'll see you, when I see you!" Wake Services will be Private due to Covid restrictions. On Friday, January 22, 2021 at 12:30 PM a Funeral Car Line-up will begin at Tower's Funeral Home Parking Lot and Procession will follow to Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. *All those in attendance must wear a mask*
