Obituary of Maria Lourdes Hijuelos

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lourdes “Maria” Hijuelos passed away at home on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the age of 80. She was born and raised in La Lisa, a borough of Havana Cuba. She emigrated to the US in 1967 with her husband and young son. She settled in Queens NY and raised 4 children. She was a loving, and devoted mother, grandmother and Aunt. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years Edelmiro, children, Joseph, Jorge, Lourdes and Victor, son-in-law Tom, daughter-in-law Amy, daughter-in-law Olivia, and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas, Ella, Sienna, Jake and Madelyn. Maria was an avid lover of traveling and was fortunate to have traveled the world. She loved traveling with her children and took them to see many countries including Spain, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, and Panama. Some might say her love of traveling and visiting the beach began the day she met her best friend and husband Eddie at Santa Maria Del Mar in Cuba. Maria and Eddie spent 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, FL, always close to the beach. Maria was the heart and soul of the family and will be forever missed. Her spirit and dedication to family will live on in her children and grandchildren
