John M. Frangos passed away of natural causes on November 29, at the age of 91. A long time resident of Garden City, New York, Captain John was born in Kardamyla, Chios in Greece on January 15, 1929. He was a member of the US Merchant Marines from 1958 - 1985. He is survived by his two daughters, his wife Despina having predeceased him in 2011. He was the devoted father of Irene & husband Dimitrios Drivas and Tina & husband Robert DiMino, a proud and loving Grandfather of Theo(Cristina) & Ianni(Stephanie) Drivas, John, Gloria(Chris Brownell) & Dessie DiMino and an adoring Great-Grandfather to Baby Rena. He was a long-standing member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA). Only his family will be in attendance at his funeral at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral Ave. in Hempstead but the service will be available for viewing live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Stpaul4548 and on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/SaintPaulHempstead/ on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9:30 am..
