Obituary of Vasiliki Lagonikos
Please share a memory of Vasiliki to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
VASILIKI LAGONIKOS – Our beloved mother went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2020 after a long and terrible battle with Dementia/Alzheimers. Vasiliki was born on March 29, 1947, to Panagiotis and Katerina Arianas in Kefala, Sparta Greece. Beloved wife of Harry Lagonikos for over 50 years. Dear sister of Maria (Louie) Panagiotakis, of Greece. Loving and cherished mother of John (Fotini) and Peter (Diana). Proud YiaYia to Harrison, Victoria, Konstantinos, Sofia, Gabriel and Leonidas. Fond aunt of Demetrios (Maria- Ilias, Sofia) Panagiotakis and Georgia (Demetris – Bobby, Elias, Eleni) Trahanas. She will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Vasiliki was a very kind hearted, gentle, humble, God fearing and family oriented woman. Quiet by nature, she never had an ill word to say about anyone and gave unconditional love and support to anyone who knew her. Some people would say she lived a simple life but she lived her life with what she loved most, family and faith.
She was raised along with her older sister Maria, with strong Christian values and work ethic while working on her family olive fields and also as a seamstress. Vasiliki married Harry Lagonikos and moved to New York where she was a homemaker and raised two sons, John and Peter, while being the most caring, loving and involved mom and wife she could be. Vasiliki also loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and also going to the beach.
Having said that, one of her favorite things to do was volunteering and spending time at the Church, whether it was the festivals, Choir, ladies Philoptochos, trips to monasteries, attending bible studies or any religious services/events. The Church was a major part of her and her family’s life.
Vasiliki was adored and loved by all who knew her. Although we are very saddened to lose such a sweet soul, who we will deeply miss and forever remember, we find comfort knowing our beloved mother is finally at rest and rejoicing in heaven. Family and friends may visit as follows:
