Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan Frances Moran passed away the morning of December 24, 2019 after a long illness. At the time of her death she was in the care of Parker Jewish Institute, a part of Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Joan was born in New York City on November 27, 1943, the first child of Frank and Margaret Courtney. In 1954 the growing family, which now included brother Gary and sister Deborah, moved to Rockaway Beach, NY. Four years later the family was complete with the birth of twin brothers Robert Brian and Richard Michael.
Joan attended grammar school at Saint Camillus, where she was also a member of the marching band and then Stella Maris High School. Her career after graduation started at AT&T in the downtown area of Manhattan. She later worked for Harder Landscape Company in Hempstead, NY.
Joan married Donald Moran on October 19,1963. They spent their first few years in Far Rockaway and then moved to Oceanside in 1976, where they raised their two sons, John and Christopher.
In her leisure, Joan enjoyed traveling, retail therapy, and most importantly spending time with her family and her friends. Joan often demonstrated a fierce determination “to tell it like it is,” while also managing to be a warm and helping individual. Joanie was much loved and will be missed by her family, and dear friends.
Joan is survived by her husband Donald; her son John and his wife Mary and her son Chris and his wife Jennifer, her 5 grandchildren Ryan, John, Nicole, Sean and Lauren; her sister Debbie and brothers Gary, Brian and Micky.
