Our home has been filled with many stories of Oceanside FD/Rescue, but our favorites are always of "Shookie" "Shookmonster" all include lots of love and laughter- as well as respect and admiration. Charlie and I were very sad to hear of his passing. Catherine, not only was he a great brother, but overall a great human and the world is certainly a sadder place for the loss.

I came to this country in 1975 and joined 8th grade where I met Bill, and it was a pleasure to spend time with him through high school and visits to his house with other friends (nice pool). While I've moved away to NJ, I recently drove by the family house across from St Anthony's and remembered those days. My deepest sympathy to the family, and while haven't seen him for some time will miss his impact in my life. Big Hugs to the family. Jorge Gutierrez

Bill and I were in the same police academy class. He was always very kind, supportive and inspiring. He was a very nice man, a gentle giant. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I remember the day Bill was born and all the love and joy that came with it. Bill was the best brother anyone could wish for. So many memories are flooding through me right now, all of them good. Walks to 7-11 for candy bars, going to watch him play football at Wake Forest, our spring baseball trips with Billy, meeting up with Rose in New Orleans, Bill and Billy driving down to Virginia to stay with me after major surgery. There are just so many. I have been truly blessed to have Bill as my brother and I am heartbroken that he is gone far too soon.

I was stunned to hear of Bill's passing, my condolences to his family. I was his field training officer back in 1986. He was a pleasure to work with, if only for a short time. He was as good a guy as he was big. Bill Markey
