Obituary of Antonia M. Antonio

Oceanside, NY- Antonia M. Antonio, 83 and lovingly known as “Toni”, passed away Tuesday September 17, 2019 after a brief illness.

Born in Rotterdam, Holland, she and her parents found their way to Brooklyn, NY after WWII.  Her very first English speaking words were “Brooklyn Dodgers”.  She lived in Brooklyn throughout her childhood and met her love, a sailor named Ernie, at a USO dance.
They married in 1958 and lived in Queens, eventually moving to Oceanside in 1968 where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Toni was a talented artist, who enjoyed drawing, needlework, poetry and sang for many years in the St. Anthony’s choir.  She was also famous for baking the best apple pie ever.

She leaves her daughter, Steffanie Antonio and partner, Dave Lemieux; her son, Christopher and grandchildren, Miles & Avery; her many cousins in Holland; and many close friends. 

A wake will be held at Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside, NY Thursday September 19, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00.  A funeral service will be held on Friday September 20, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Parish Church in
Oceanside, NY at 10:45.
