Please share a memory of Emanuel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Emanuel S Denaro, loving father of four children, passed away at the age of 92. Emanuel was born on January 4, 1927 in Pozzallo, Sicily to Luigi and Orazia Denaro. He moved with his family to the USA in 1934 where Emanuel completed his education at East New York Vocational High School before being called up to serve in the United States Army Air Corps as an Aviation Mechanic between the years 1945 - 1946. In 1959 he married Rosanna Sigona. They raised two sons, Louis and Andrew, and two daughters, Jean and Grace. Emanuel was perhaps best known for his career as an Ice Cream Vendor in Rockville Center and the surrounding communities for nearly twenty five years. He worked long and hard hours to support his family but he was also an innate teacher and proud graduate of the New York City Public School System and he made it his business to never stop learning. In his spare time he was always working on his chess game and was known as a formidable opponent to one and all. He was also a serious reader and lover of the classics who spent a lot of his time absorbing film, art, music and literature and enlightening us on the finer points tied to world history, economics and politics. When he retired he resumed his youthful passion for golf. He was known for his frugal nature, his directness, his honesty, his fierce loyalty to his friends and family, his sense of humor, and his pride in his Sicilian Heritage. Emanuel was preceded in death by his father, Luigi, his mother, Orazia, his wife, Rosanna, his daughter, Jean and his brother Anthony. He is survived by his three remaining children, Louis, Andrew and Grace, and his grandchildren Megan, Nicholas, Luca, Joseph, Thomas, and Henry.
